"I was getting out of the car and my dress was so tight that I didn't
realize it until I saw all the photographers' flashes. It was
devastating. They saw everything. I might as well have lifted up my
skirt for them."
Poor Anne Hathaway! The self-appointed goody two-shoes of all
Hollywood has been caught, tragically, without knickers! It's hard to
believe this could happen, for though she obviously knew she had no
undies on when she left the house, who would have thought photographers
would be taking pictures of the star at the red carpet premiere of Les
Miserables in New York? Golly.
Anyway, unless she braids her pubic hair or has a penis, it's hard to
know what all the fuss is about -- something there we've never seen
before? Never mind. Hathaway was able to further discuss the situation
with Matt Lauer on the Today show, taking the moral high ground and
complaining, "Well, it was obviously an unfortunate incident. It kind of
made me sad on two accounts. One was that I was very sad that we live
in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable
moment, and rather than delete it and do the decent thing, sells it.
And I'm sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies sexuality of
unwilling participants."
Hathaway also managed to talk to Ingrid Sischy of Vanity Fair
magazine about her crotch shot before she was done, so it's not as if
this wardrobe malfunction didn't serve its purpose. The actress hasn't
had this much publicity since her old boyfriend got arrested.
The funny thing about the latest photo incident is that Hathaway was
noted for having a bare bottom in her semi-see through dress at the Les
Mis premiere in Tokyo recently. "Anne Hathaway flashes her derriere,"
shouted a UK tabloid, while another publication noted she, "Had a bit of
bum on show."
Let's hope her recent SAG nomination for her performance in Les
Miserables will generate enough buzz to put an end to the peek-a-boo
publicity stunts for Hathaway. Although in the world o' celebrity,
better she bare her crotch than bare her soul, we have to say.
